Being present, here and now / Estar presente, aquí y ahora.

Drawing allows me to be present, to be connected with the moment, with what is going on around me and straight in front of me. I recently attended the traditional "Welcome Cocktail" organized by the school I work for, it is a night to review and celebrate the goals achieved last year and share the new ones for this coming school year. It is also a night to welcome the new families into the school community, present the teaching staff and get together as a community. I arrived early thinking the activity was at 6:00 pm when in reality it was schedule for 7:00 pm and it ended up starting at 8:00 pm.

Because I arrived early I sat inside the presentation room quietly while people outside where drinking their cocktails and having their conversations. I have never been good at "socializing" in this type of events, I've never felt comfortable in crowded small spaces where there are hundreds of people talking at once and I don't drink at all, so drawing was the perfect thing to do in this situation... here are the results of the night:

Dibujar me permite estar presente, estar conectada con el momento, con lo que me rodea y está justo frente a mi. Recientemente estuve en el tradicional "Cocktail de Bienvenida" organizado por el colegio para el que trabajo, es una noche para revisar y celebrar los logros alcanzados el año escolar pasado y compartir las metas de este nuevo año que inicia. También es una noche para darles la bienvenida a las nuevas familias que se unen a la comunidad del colegio, presentar a los profesores y pasarla bien como comunidad. Llegué temprano pensando que la actividad era a las 6:00 pm cuando en realidad estaba pautada para las 7:00 pm y no inició hasta las 8:00 pm. Dado que llegué tan temprano me senté "chillin', tranquila, quieta dentro del salón donde sería la presentación, mientras fuera del mismo los demás bebían sus cocteles e iniciaban conversaciones. Yo nunca he sido muy buena "socializando" en este tipo de actividades, nunca me he sentido cómoda en pequeños espacios con cientos de personas hablando a la vez, y bebo absolutamente nada, así que dibujar era lo ideal en esta situación... aquí los resultados de la noche:
